Polar Bears Squelch Hot N Readys Offense in Shutout Win
|
The exploits of designated hitter Mark Armstead, who is tied for 5th in the 3AA with a .398 on-base percentage, helped the Billings Polar Bears defeat the Little Caesars Hot N Readys, 4-0. Armstead went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Billings reliever Idowu Okonjo was the winner. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was Étienne Leclerc. Billings is now 36-29, Little Caesars 32-33.
Armstead had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Étienne Leclerc, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Polar Bears a 2-0 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Armstead.
"I thought we played a nice game," Armstead told the Billings Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
