Houghton Helps Yakima Cruise to 12-3 Win
|
The Yakima Hops easily defeated the Virginia Beach Deuces, 12-3, at Hops Park, with second baseman Bob Houghton a main contributor to the win. He was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for Yakima. Washington Scarpenti, the winner, improved to 5-3. He held the Deuces to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 7.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 0. Yakima goes to 25-33, Virginia Beach to 29-29.
Ieyoshi Samurakami, who is tied for 4th in the 3AA with a .500 slugging percentage, contributed to the Yakima win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 4 RBI.
