Polar Bears Get One-Run Win at Yakima
|
Starting pitcher Stanley Kent pitched well enough to help the Billings Polar Bears beat the Yakima Hops by the score of 4-3. The winning pitcher was Kent, now 5-3. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. Martín García earned the save, his 2nd, for the Polar Bears.
Mark Armstead said the idea of hitting a home run barely crossed his mind when he came to bat in the top of the seventh. Armstead belted a 2-run home run to stake Billings to a 4-2 lead. His 3rd home run of the season came off Yakima pitcher Marvin Cahill.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Kent said.
Billings is now 25-24, while Yakima is 20-29.
