Nationals Win Thriller, 5-3
|
Ottawa played host to Virginia Beach at the friendly confines of Nationals Park.
A 3-RBI performance from left fielder Carlos Cirilli, who is tied for 10th in the 3AA in home runs with 5, led the Ottawa Nationals to a 5-3 win over the Virginia Beach Deuces. Ottawa reliever Giddy Potts picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Tao Zhou took the loss.
Cirilli had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the 12th. On a 2-2 fastball from Tao Zhou, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Nationals a 5-3 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Cirilli.
"Games like this one keep the antacid makers in business," quipped Virginia Beach manager John Anderson.
Ottawa now sits at 11-28, while Virginia Beach falls to 17-22.
