Thien Delivers Walk-Off Win for Thunder Hawks
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks bested the Virginia Beach Deuces by a score of 4-3, with designated hitter Yasuhide Nakashima getting the main credit. On the day, Nakashima went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Thunder Hawks. Ft. Polk South reliever Seong-hyeon Pak picked up the win to move to 1-0. Urs Ehles suffered the loss. The win moves Ft. Polk South to a record of 7-10.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Ft. Polk South shortstop Qu-bing Thien, facing Urs Ehles, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Thunder Hawks the 4-3 win.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Nakashima. "And not try to do too much."
