With catcher Luke Thornton leading the charge, the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks defeated the Yakima Hops, 6-3, at Hops Park. Thornton, who was drafted in the two round of the 2029 draft, went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Ft. Polk South, now 4-6, is off to a slow start.

Tied up with the Hops in the top of the fifth inning, the Thunder Hawks got a boost from shortstop Qu-bing Thien. With the bases loaded, Thien saw a full count fastball from Patrick Buzard and hit a bases-clearing triple to break the stalemate and put Ft. Polk South on top, 4-1.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Thunder Hawks manager Mark Harrison. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
