Lakers Jolt 1837 BBC with Late Rally
|
The exploits of first baseman Yoshihito Samurakami, who is tied for 10th in the 3L in doubles with 20, helped the Echo Park Lakers defeat the Houston 1837 BBC, 3-1. Samurakami went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. William DeWitt earned the save for Echo Park, his 10th. Echo Park is now 39-62.
Samurakami had a game-changing single in the bottom of the eighth. On a 3-1 cutter from José Ledezma, he banged a 2-run single to center, giving the Lakers a 3-1 lead. It was the 67th hit of the year for Samurakami.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Echo Park manager Jordan Calhoun said.
