Middies Lose to Legion, 5-3
|
The Kingston Township Legion topped the Grafton Middies, 5-3, with center fielder Alfredo Cardenas playing a big role. Cardenas went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Legion in the win. Norberto Rodríguez, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 8.1 innings. The Legion bumped their record to 57-41 with this latest triumph.
Cardenas contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Kingston Township in the top of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Cardenas took a fastball from Ángel Rosas and stroked the home run to left. His 16th home run of the season allowed the Legion to leap in front, 3-2.
Cardenas told a Kingston Township Observer reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
