Lakers Get Close Win Over 84s
|
Despite a fine performance by center fielder Jesús Amador, the Greenville 84s suffered a 8-7 loss to the Echo Park Lakers. Amador went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Echo Park reliever Brandon Bannatyne picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Billy Grange shouldered the loss. The 84s, at 42-54, have lost 4 straight games.
Had Noël Sassetti not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Sassetti hit a 2-run double. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Lakers.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Sassetti said.
