The Rocky Mountain Nuggets got a superb performance from designated hitter Lúcio López, but the Grafton Middies still won the game, 11-8. López was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Kenete Daku earned his 21st save in 25 chances. The 9th-place Middies improved to 37-52.
The most important at-bat for Grafton came in the top of the ninth inning, when pinch hitter Jerry Yates stroked a 0-1 fastball to right for a 3-run home run, putting Grafton up, 11-8.
"I hate to be the fly in the ointment," said Yates, "but we could've played better."
