Phoenix Beats Toledo, 9-5
|
The Phoenix Hotspur beat the Toledo Stingers, 9-5, at Chase Field. Phoenix center fielder Wagaw Lukongolo earned player of the game honors. He collected 1 single and 1 double, while driving in 3 runs. Juan Guillén, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 8. His record now stands at 6-6. Phoenix now sits at 28-39, while Toledo falls to 32-35.
Lukongolo contributed when he hit a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the sixth. Coming with one out and the bases loaded, the double proved to be critical to helping Phoenix get the win.
"We maximized our offense today," said Phoenix skipper Michael Esposito. "That makes everyone's life easier."
