Hotspur Throttle Evergreens, 7-1
|
Portland had no answer for Phoenix Hotspur starter José Ruíz, who flummoxed Evergreens hitters as the Hotspur cruised to a 7-1 victory. Ruíz, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 8.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks. The Hotspur' win now puts them at 26-37.
Phoenix took control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and a runner on 3rd, Wagaw Lukongolo hit a run-scoring single to make it 2-1, Hotspur.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Ruíz.
