|
Baltimore used a superb performance from starting pitcher Kanakanui Lokomaikainani to down the Vermont Lake Monsters, 3-1. Lokomaikainani, the winner, moves to 8-7. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. Toshiki Yokoyama was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 11 save opportunities.
Alex Mable went 1 for 4 for Baltimore. The 27-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Gerry Fleck. It was his 31st RBI of the season.
"We'll savor this win," Mable told the Baltimore Bulletin, "then get ready for the next game."
Baltimore is now 57-44, Vermont 57-44.
