Martínez Delivers Walk-Off Win for Black Sox
|
Fans who came to Constellation Ballpark watched the Baltimore Black Sox and the Vermont Lake Monsters fight to the finish.
Alex Mable added some punch to the Baltimore offense, helping them outmuscle the Vermont Lake Monsters, 9-8. In the game, Mable, who is tied for 7th in the SAAA with a .863 OPS, was 4 for 5 with a double, 3 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs. Baltimore reliever Chris Hayes picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Bert Gean took the loss.
Late in the game, third baseman Fernando Martínez had a big at-bat for Baltimore. In the bottom of the 13th, he hit a run-scoring single off Bert Gean. The play gave the Black Sox a 9-8 lead.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Martínez said.
Baltimore is now riding a 3-game win streak.
