Vermont pitcher Santo Velazco gave the Drummers all they could handle, but in the end, Tortolita left Monster Field with a 3-2 win. Velazco allowed 1 earned run on 7 hits over 6.2 innings. Ricardo Ruíz sewed up the save, his 2nd. Tortolita is now 29-30, while Vermont is 38-21.
Yifu Chen made it 3-2, Tortolita, in the top of the ninth when he hit a sacrifice fly. It was a big at-bat in the Drummers win.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Chen. "And not try to do too much."
