Popoff, Supernovas Rough Up Braves
|
It was a good time at Nuclear Stadium, where fans came to watch the Gryfindor Braves and Scranton Supernovas get after it.
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Chase Popoff, the Scranton Supernovas defeated the Gryfindor Braves, 11-3. Popoff was 2 for 3 with a home run, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4 for the Supernovas. Apollo Cepeda earned the win for Scranton. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 6-2.
Popoff contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Scranton in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Popoff took a circle change from Gary Jordan and stroked the home run to right. His 7th home run of the season allowed the Supernovas to leap in front, 3-1.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Scranton manager Wes Murray.
The Supernovas' win now puts them at 19-29.
