Drummers Topple Doubledays with Late Rally
The Tortolita Drummers beat the Tremont Doubledays, 5-3, at Doubledays Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter Rich Flannery, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Tortolita reliever Pedro Figueroa picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jack Carr absorbed the loss. The Drummers, now 11-5, have played some good baseball in the early going.

Flannery had a game-changing single in the top of the ninth. On a 1-0 curveball from Jack Carr, he banged a 2-run single to right, giving the Drummers a 5-3 lead. It was the 17th hit of the year for Flannery.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Flannery said.
