Braves Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Gryfindor right-hander Fred Gunther made an effective start against the Baltimore Black Sox at Cayuse Ballpark, leading his team to a 4-2 win. Gryfindor reliever Rodrigo Torres picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Kelemeneke Balun shouldered the loss. León Vallejo recorded his 3rd save for Gryfindor.
Had José Cuervo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Cuervo hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Braves.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Gryfindor manager .
Losses have been rare for the Black Sox, who are now 9-4.
