Supernovas Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
The Scranton Supernovas defeated the Royse City Targaryens, 9-5. Earning player of the game honors was second baseman Carlos Sánchez, who was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Apollo Cepeda got the win, improving to 1-1. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 4 runs on 10 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 5. The Targaryens, now 3-4, have been pitiful so far.
Martín Álvarez took Emershan Naidoo deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 3-run home run put the Supernovas on top, 6-4. In all, Álvarez had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
