It was a good time at Atoms Field, where fans came to watch the Athletic Club KC Academy and Bethesda Atoms get after it.
A 3-RBI performance from third baseman Pedro Ortega, who is tied for 6th in the SAA in runs scored with 54, led the Bethesda Atoms to a 5-3 win over the Athletic Club KC Academy. Osiris St. Brown was the winner. Over 7.2 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 11 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Hakan Yilmanz was credited with the save for Bethesda, his 5th of the season.
Ortega had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-1 cutter from Cristián Rojas, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Atoms a 5-3 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Ortega.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Ortega.
Bethesda is now 50-46.
