Farmers Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Fur Traders
|
The Lancaster Farmers beat the Tacoma Fur Traders, 5-3, at Farmers Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder Ramón Soto, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. The Fur Traders, now 39-56, have lost 5 in a row.
Hsi-men King drove in 2 runs for Lancaster. The 22-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Orlando Peralta. It was his 55th RBI of the season.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," King told reporters after the game.
