Seawolves Sneak Past Sonics, 4-3
|
Fans who came to Sonics Ballpark watched the Long Island Seawolves and the Atlantic City Sonics fight to the finish.
The Long Island Seawolves did just enough to sneak past the Atlantic City Sonics, 4-3, at Sonics Ballpark. Long Island pitcher Jeff Starr earned player of the game honors. Paris Nowlin was credited with the save for Long Island, his 1st of the season.
Long Island used the timely hitting of Pedro Colón to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Seawolves on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Jeff is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Long Island manager Matt Helsley.
Long Island goes to 55-32. The win puts them 6˝ games up in their division.
