The Reno Silver Sox got a stellar effort from pitcher Stan Wells, helping Reno score a 3-1 win over the visiting Salem Misfits. Wells went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 4, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-0. Bob Christison earned the save for Reno, his 4th of the year.

Reno took a 3-1 lead on Lee Storment's 19th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Storment hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Salem pitcher Bogdon Sokolov shaking his head.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Wells told a Reno Citizen reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."

Reno currently is in 8th place in the Silver AA at 38-49.
