The Long Island Seawolves did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Atlantic City Sonics at Ballpark of Remsen. Nobody did more than pitcher Mathieu Neri, who captured player of the game honors. Carlos Costello sewed up the save, his 4th. Long Island improves to 40-24 with the win. They lead their division by 2˝ games.

The Seawolves got a big at-bat from designated hitter Alfredo Sánchez. For the game, Sánchez went 1-4. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 76th hit of the season gave Long Island a 3-2 lead.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Long Island manager Matt Helsley.
