Rapiers Mow Down Fur Traders, 10-2
|
The exploits of second baseman Tomás Costello, who is tied for 2nd in the SAA in bases on balls with 39, helped the Durham Rapiers defeat the Tacoma Fur Traders, 10-2. Costello was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. José Morales closed the game out for Durham, earning his 3rd save. The Rapiers improved to 38-26.
Costello contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Durham in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Costello took a cutter from Luis Ruíz and stroked the home run to right. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Rapiers to leap in front, 2-1.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Durham skipper Brody Roberts.
