Late Rally by Atoms Secures Win

Both teams had their chances, but the Bethesda Atoms eventually prevailed at Atoms Field.
Osiris St. Brown pitched a gem to lead Bethesda to a 2-1 victory over the Atlantic City Sonics. In 8 innings, St. Brown surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Bill Tench converted his 14th save in 16 tries.
Had Marc Beck not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Beck hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Atoms.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," St. Brown told the Bethesda Herald.
The Atoms bumped their record to 31-30 with this latest triumph.
