Brewer Goes Wild, But Atoms Win
|
Long Island got a terrific game from designated hitter Otis Brewer. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Bethesda, 6-5. Brewer was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Vincent O'Higgin, credited with the win, is now 1-4. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits in 6.2 innings. Bethesda, at 20-22, occupies 7th place in the Silver AA.
Chase Mooney tagged a home run off Winston Wenham in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run blast put the Atoms on top, 3-1. In all, Mooney had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Long Island manager Matt Helsley. "But we decided not to take it."
