|
Jorge Otero pitched a gem to lead Portland to a 2-1 victory over the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids. Roberto Calderón, credited with the win, is now 4-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Portland has an impressive 29-12 record.
The Evergreens got a lift from designated hitter Mario Castillo who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning off António Alomar. It was his 3rd RBI of the season and put Portland in front, 1-0.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Castillo.
