Farmers Fall to Seawolves, 8-1
|
The Lancaster Farmers and Long Island Seawolves were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at Farmers Field.
The Long Island Seawolves went home winners at Farmers Field, thanks in large part to starter Mathieu Neri. Neri silenced the Lancaster Farmers, enabling Long Island to grab the 8-1 win. In 8 innings, Neri surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run.
Sheldon Deshotels's at-bat in the top of the seventh inning was a big one for Long Island. Coming to bat with two out, runners on 1st and 3rd and Long Island leading 1-0, the left fielder hit a run-scoring single.
"We played hard and won," said Neri. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
Long Island goes to 12-9, Lancaster to 10-11.
