Atoms Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
The Bethesda Atoms picked up a win at Sonics Ballpark, knocking off the Atlantic City Sonics, 5-3. Starting pitcher Rikkarti Gudmundur was an essential part of his team's success. Bethesda reliever Bill Tench was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Todd Howell. Bethesda, now 5-8, is off to a slow start.
Jorge Cortéz made it 4-3 in favor of Bethesda when he delivered a solo home run. It came with no one out in the top of the tenth. The Atoms went on to win.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Gudmundur.
