The Durham Rapiers topped the Reno Silver Sox, 5-4, in USSL Double A action at Rapiers Ballpark. The player of the game was Durham catcher Armando Chamú. The winner was Johnnie Bough, who threw 125 pitches over 8 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 7 hits. The win gives the Rapiers a record of 4-3.
Had Cash Masters not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Masters hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Rapiers.
