Rawhides Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Polar Bears
|
Chris Holland never let the Polar Bears get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his splitter, to pitch the Rawhides to a 3-1 win. Christiaan Volkers closed the game out for Belvedere Park, earning his 1st save. The defending champion Rawhides are off to a horrible start to the season, notching only their 2nd win in 5 games.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Connor Petty came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Billings pitcher Fernando Ramírez, he hit a 2-1 fastball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Belvedere Park on top, 2-1.
Holland said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
