Virginia Beach Deuces starter Yoshi Minamoto turned in a sterling performance against the Billings Polar Bears, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. Virginia Beach reliever Sam Groves picked up the win to move to 1-0. Stanley Kent suffered the loss. The Deuces raised their record to 2-0.

Juan González made it 3-2 in favor of Virginia Beach when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with two out in the top of the ninth. The Deuces went on to win.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Minamoto said.
