With second baseman Carlos Ramírez leading the charge, the Irving Blue Sox defeated the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 7-4, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. Ramírez was 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Don Blessing picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 4 in 6.2 innings. Matthew Fallows recorded his 2nd save for Irving.
Ramírez had a key at-bat for Irving early in the game. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single. It was his 4th hit of the season and gave Irving an early 2-0 lead.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Ramírez.
The loss drops Ft. Polk South to 0-2.
