Great Lakers Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Pure Michigan pitcher Frederick Vázquez did his part in helping his team beat the Augusta Timber Hawks, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Pure Michigan reliever Joseph Merle was credited with the win, to go to 4-0. Sixto Soto took the loss for Augusta. Jaime Carrión earned his 5th save in 5 chances.
This game was not decided until late. With one out in the top of the 12th, Cyrille Baffi hit a sacrifice fly. The Great Lakers took the lead, 4-3.
"This is not a one-man show," said Vázquez. "A lot of the guys stepped up."
Pure Michigan is 58-42 and Augusta, with the loss, 47-53.
