The Augusta Timber Hawks beat the Alloway Halberds, 3-2, at Timber Hawks Ballpark. The Timber Hawks got a fine performance from first baseman Juan Chávez, who captured player of the game honors. He went 1 for 2 with 3 walks. Augusta reliever Drew Cullen was the winner. His record is now 5-3. Antonio Godfrey took the loss. Jong-yun Chong earned his 4th save in 4 chances.
Dave Yates, who is rated as the 62nd best prospect by BNN, aided the Augusta cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the center fielder drove in one run.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Alloway manager Yoshifumi Kamuta.
The Timber Hawks saw their win-loss record go to 46-52. At the same time, the Halberds fell to 46-52.
