The Houston BC got a sterling performance from pitcher Luis Díaz, but the Belugas still prevailed, 6-4. Díaz was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings allowing 3 runs. Brinkley reliever Carlos Peret picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Pepe Delgado shouldered the loss. Austin Aries was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 20 save opportunities.
Had Luis Yander La O not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Yander La O hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Belugas.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Brinkley manager Ricardo Medina.
Brinkley is now 58-36, while Houston is 30-64.
