Coyotes Stymie Pure Michigan, Take 4-1 Win
|
The Hamilton Coyotes got a stellar performance from pitcher Ken Clarke, who handcuffed the Pure Michigan offense en route to a 4-1 win at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. Clarke, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 4 walks. Francisco García, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
The Coyotes got a big at-bat from third baseman José Gómez. For the game, Gómez went 3-3 with 3 singles and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 83rd hit of the season gave Hamilton a 3-1 lead.
"I thought we played a nice game," Clarke told the Hamilton Bulletin. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The Coyotes raised their record to 19-56.
