Martin Rips Pure Michigan for 5 Hits
|
Coyotes center fielder Warren Martin had his way with Pure Michigan pitching today at Coyote Wildlife Refuge and mauled them for 5 hits in 6 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Great Lakers ruined his great day by toppling the Coyotes, 13-11.
"I had a great day, but you've got to give Pure Michigan credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits."
"Oh, we noticed what Martin did today," Great Lakers skipper Bob Thomas said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him."
Warren Martin singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Edmund Blackadder in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Jaime Carrión in the 9th.
Martin is hitting .268 this year with 4 home runs and 19 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .354, 26 walks and scored 24 times.
