Méndez hits 1st home run as Belugas Squeeze Past Houston
The Brinkley Belugas beat the Houston BC, 10-9, at Houston Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Diego Méndez, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Brinkley reliever Powell Beauregard picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Enrique Arrabal was collared with the loss. Brinkley now sits in second place in the Menard's AAA at 36-20.

Mario Álvarez's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a fastball from Enrique Arrabal for a run-scoring single. It put Brinkley in front, 10-9.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Méndez, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
