The Alloway Halberds got a strong performance from pitcher Antonio Godfrey, who stymied the Florida offense en route to a 4-2 win at Ballpark of Alloway. In 7 innings, Godfrey surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Alloway currently is in 11th place in the Menard's AAA at 17-24.
The Halberds got a big at-bat from center fielder José Alcalá. For the game, Alcalá was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Alloway a 4-2 lead.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Halberds manager Yoshifumi Kamuta. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
