Halberds Prevail, 4-2, Over Sioux Falls
|
The Alloway Halberds picked up a win at The Bamboo Forest, knocking off the Sioux Falls Red Pandas, 4-2. Starting pitcher Nicholas Beyer, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Beyer, now 3-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Matthew Fallows picked up the save, his 2nd.
In the top of the eighth inning, designated hitter Manny Gonzáles came through big-time for the Halberds. With Alloway leading 3-2, he belted a solo home run.
Sioux Falls manager Davis Burt said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Alloway now sits in 11th place in the Menard's AAA at 13-23.
