Red Pandas Turn Back Augusta, 2-1
|
Pitcher Bob Warford was sensational for the Sioux Falls Red Pandas in his team's 2-1 triumph over the Augusta Timber Hawks. Warford received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. The winning pitcher was Warford, now 1-2. He tossed 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. Sukejuro Yokoyama closed the door for Sioux Falls, picking up his 1st save of the year.
The Red Pandas got a big at-bat from designated hitter Kumanosuke Abe. For the game, Abe went 1-3 with a double and a walk. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 2nd double of the season gave Sioux Falls a 1-0 lead.
"We did just enough to win," Warford said.
Augusta's current losing streak has reached 7 games.
