Hamilton played host to Port Royal at the friendly confines of Coyote Wildlife Refuge.
Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Wes Shannon, the Port Royal Disaster suffered a 7-6 loss to the Hamilton Coyotes. Shannon was 2-5 with 2 home runs. Hamilton is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 5th win in 18 games.
Had Brandon Carroll not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Carroll hit a bases-clearing double. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Coyotes.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Port Royal manager . "But we decided not to take it."
