Fog Roll to 8-1 Win Over Belugas
|
Sunset District and Brinkley met at Fog Park in front of a lively crowd.
Brinkley had no answer for Sunset District Fog hurler Miguel Cabañas, who overwhelmed Belugas hitters as the Fog coasted to a 8-1 victory. The winning pitcher was Cabañas, now 1-0. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6.
Rodrigo Rodríguez went 1-4. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Sunset District. The 24-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Dahab Kanda. It was his 5th RBI of the season.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Sunset District manager John Muñóz.
The win brings the Fog to 7-5, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
