Fans of the Port Royal Disaster who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Port Royal win over the visiting Hamilton Coyotes, 9-8. Miguel Angel Martínez started for the home team against Jesús Garces. Alejandro Serrato earned the coveted player of the game honors.
Brandon Cooper was the walk-off hero for Port Royal. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Disaster pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Port Royal manager .
