Late Rally by Divided Secures Win
|
D.C. Divided starter Manuel Paílla pitched a strong game against the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC at Washington Stadium, leading the Divided to a 4-3 win. D.C. reliever Baker Mayfield picked up the win, upping his record to 4-4. Anatoly Ivanovich was saddled with the loss. The Divided improved to 55-52.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when D.C. shortstop Nick Boyd, facing Anatoly Ivanovich, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Divided the 4-3 win.
In postgame comments to the D.C. Gazette, Paílla said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
