Stingers Prevail, 2-1, Over Atlanta
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Toledo Stingers and the Atlanta Smoke, Enrique Castro was the difference-maker. The Toledo right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 2-1 win. Castro went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-3. Earning his 1st save of the year was Asher Spivey.
Ned Durand, who won the Newcomer of the Year Award in 2025, chipped in for Toledo with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Atlanta manager Scott McMahon said following the tough loss.
The Smoke drop to 8-13 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2032 season.
