BC Stymie D.C., Take 4-1 Win
|
The Philadelphia 1776 BC picked up a win at Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum, knocking off the D.C. Divided, 4-1. Starting pitcher Bill Tugwell, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Tony Solíz notched his 26th save in 28 chances. Philadelphia 1776 is now 48-47.
Karl Blanke, who leads the SL in doubles with 23, aided the Philadelphia 1776 cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said BC manager Josh Swain, "I like our chances."
