Eclipse, Mayes Blank Durham Sunday, August 17th, 2031 In an outstanding mound performance, Northville Eclipse starter Freddie Mayes fired a complete-game shutout against the Durham Rapiers at Old-Timers Park today. Mayes was the key to the Eclipse's 5-0 win. The 23-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 2 hits and 4 walks he allowed. "2 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout." So far this year Mayes has made 16 starts, tossed 106.1 innings, struck out 79 batters and walked 48. His record is 4-7 with a 3.64 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .238 batting average.
